Most companies know their brand matters. Far fewer can say what it means to the people who buy from them, or how it stacks up against their competitors in their market.
Brand research puts numbers and language behind those questions.
We design studies that measure how your brand is seen from the outside, how this compares vs. your competition, and your priority opportunities to further optimize your brand positioning, lead in your desired space, and strengthen your image among current, past, and potential customers in your market.
Every study is built around the decision in front of you. For example, a brand about to enter a new market needs different questions than an established brand trying to change or update its image, or work out why growth has stalled.
Our senior researchers run every phase, so the person who understands your business is the same person analyzing the results and presenting them to your team.
Many brand research projects start with one of these situations.
Do your target markets recognize your brand the way you want to be recognized? Learning about where your brand and your key competitors are positioned, and opportunities to dominate the perceptual spaces you want to lead are integral insights to steer the direction of your company.
Maybe your brand image is not as strong in your market as it once was, or new competitors’ are improving theirs, or both. You need to find out where you stand, where you can improve, and what matters most to your customers.
Their product did not improve. Their pricing did not move. Something about how the market sees them has shifted, and now you are finding out one lost deal at a time.
A new name, a new look and maybe a new tagline. These are all massive decisions, and internal opinion is the only point of view you have. Should you invest in it before you hear from real customers in your target market?
Brand awareness is high, however you can't say the same thing for the conversion rates. Somewhere between recognition and purchase, you are losing potential customers, and nobody can point to where.
What works in one region, category or customer group does not always carry over. The brand that built your business may need adjusting before it can build the next one.
Each of these can be a standalone study or one component of a larger program. Many projects combine a few. Whether its surveys, focus groups, interviews, or a different methodology, we always start by listening to your objectives and then figure out what type of study is best.
Explains where your brand sits in the minds of buyers relative to the alternatives and where it could actually sit. We map the attributes that matter in your category, find the space you can credibly own and test whether the position you want is one the market will accept. The output you get is a map of your brand positioning your team can confidently build campaigns, messaging and product decisions around.
Measures the vital signs of your brand at regular intervals such as awareness, consideration, preference, usage and loyalty, against your competitors. A single wave gives you a baseline. Repeated waves show whether the brand is getting stronger or weaker and which parts of it moved after a campaign, a product change or a competitor's move.
Answers the simplest and most misunderstood question in branding: how many people in your target market know you exist, and how many would think of you unprompted when they need what you sell. Unaided and aided awareness tell you very different things about where the brand stands. Both matter for deciding how much of your budget should go to being known versus being chosen.
Uncovers what people believe about your brand, whether or not those beliefs are accurate and how far they sit from what you intend to communicate. The distance between the two is usually where the work is. This type of study often focuses on defining how your brand is currently perceived, what is most important to your target market, and how to build perceptions to calibrate towards this and build better brand loyalty.
Puts your brand next to the two or three names your buyers actually compare you with, on the measures that drive their choice. This is not a feature checklist, but how each brand is rated on trust, quality, value and the specific attributes that decide deals in your category. You learn where you win, where you don’t (but how you can), and where nobody in the category is winning yet.
Tests names, logos, taglines, packaging and visual identity with the people who will see them, before your marketing budget is spent. This can range from a full rebrand assessment to a quick read on two tagline options. The goal is the same either way: replace internal opinion and groupthink with market evidence before a decision becomes expensive to reverse.
We take the whole thing: designing the study, recruiting and fielding it, running the analysis, and delivering findings and presenting to your team. Senior researchers handle every phase, with no hand-offs to junior staff partway through.
If you already have the study designed, or the data collected, or a team that just needs an extra pair of hands at one stage, we come in for that piece alone. Questionnaire design, fieldwork management, data processing, analysis, reporting. Any single stage or any combination.
Bad data does not announce itself. It looks like findings. Every study we run is screened for the things that quietly corrupt a dataset: duplicate and fraudulent respondents, speeders, straight-liners, and inconsistent answering. You should be able to act on what we hand you, which means being certain the underlying data is real.
What clients say about working with us.
No pressure, no jargon — just a conversation about your research objectives and how we’d approach them.

Ethan spent his career inside the research industry — from the ground level at boutique consultancies to executive roles at large multinationals by his late twenties. That breadth of experience gave him a front-row seat to a growing problem: the value clients received from their research was declining, while costs and timelines were not.
He watched senior experts get pulled off projects and replaced by junior analysts behind the scenes. He saw unvetted AI being used to cut corners. He saw data quality eroding. The industry was optimising for its own margins, not its clients’ outcomes.
So he founded the Bondar Group Consulting on a simple principle: companies deserve better value from their research company. Every engagement is led by senior researchers. Every study is custom-designed. And the goal is always the same — insights your team can actually act on.
It depends on how fast your category moves, how much your next moves rely on brand perceptions and image, and where you feel your biggest opportunities are.
Many companies will evaluate their brand health once or twice a year, or even quarterly to see their movement. While others will test on an ad-hoc basis when they need it the most along their roadmap. We recommend a cadence based on what you need to see. And we can help you figure that out! We will never suggest investing anything more than what is needed to meet your objectives.
Yes. B2B purchases are high-stakes. They involve several people and are shaped heavily by reputation and trust, which is what brand actually is. The difference is in the method: B2B brand studies usually rely on interviews and targeted surveys with decision makers rather than large consumer panels.
Customer research studies the people who already buy from you and their experience of doing so. Brand research looks at how you are seen by the whole market, including people who have never bought from you and people who chose someone else. Both matter and they often go hand in hand, but the second is where brand research really proves its value.
Two things: senior involvement and speed. At larger firms, senior consultants sell the project and then hand it off. At Bondar Group, our experienced researchers handle every phase personally. That means faster turnarounds, sharper insights, and better value for your investment.
Talk to us! Even if you want to do the brand research all on your own, we will happily get on a call with you to answer any questions and set you in the right direction – free of charge! We exist solely to help companies get more from their research, not to fill our pockets.
We exist solely to provide companies better value from brand research initiatives. Part of this is by simply offering services at lower costs than our competitors, but also by always proposing the research plan that will meet your objectives at the lowest cost possible. We are fully transparent, have no hidden fees or trickery, and will never suggest anything above or beyond what you need.
No. We are based in Vancouver, British Columbia and a lot of our brand research work is with companies across BC, but we run studies for clients across Canada and the United States and internationally where the project calls for it.
Most projects are managed remotely, and fieldwork is designed around where your customers are, not where we are. If you are local, we are happy to meet in person.
Share a few details and we will get back to you ASAP. No sales pitch, just a real conversation about your objectives.
